I thought I'd start posting every once in a while about my very favorite things in America. I have to say that I've fallen in love with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. (This jelly is what my English teacher would have called jam.) Amazingly enough these godly creations are practically unknown in Finland.

Yes, that's an important point! My natural tendency would also be to cut them on a diagonal but H strongly disagrees. I think this is a question of esthetics vs. functionality - I find the triangular pieces more beautyful but I have to say that the sandwich has less of a tendency to fall a part when the pieces are rectangular. This said, the practical point is more valid on other kinds of (more stuffed) sandwitches.
