pillows

A lot of Americans like to put a ridiculous number of pillows on their beds. Yes, ridiculous. I'm afraid the reason for this behavior is not the popularity of pillow fighting. In fact I have no idea why they do it. Anyone?

Where do they put those pillows when they go to sleep?

That is a mystery. I think they put them on the dirty floor where they walk with their dirty shoes on (for all the non-Finns: in Finland you never walk in a house or an apartment with your shoes on). You may want to watch "Along Came Polly" for reference.

Not able to speak for everyone but I heart many pillows for two reasons:

1. aesthetics. they make for a nice, neat looking bed. see = your drawing.

2. you can prop them up and nestle into them when you read or cuddle. think of it as a bed couch.

And as for sleepy time storage - you sleep on one, keep one propped up b/w your head & the wall and put one on your not-so-dirty American floor that you clean a regular, hygienically appropriate basis.

Thank you, Megan. This is very helpful - I think I understand. There is no question that Americans keep there houses more hygienically cleaned up than anyone else in the world. It's just those shoes...
